We’re driven by making a positive difference to our clients’ lives
Lifestyle Planning
We believe money is about what it can be used for rather than being important in itself. Whatever we’re asked to advise on, establishing context is key.
Few of us take time out to think about where we are now, how happy we are, what we would like to change, and what we want for the future, whilst putting money to the back of our minds.
We’re not life coaches, but are practised at encouraging and assisting with this thought. It’s about establishing your big picture, your lifestyle focussed goals, your beliefs and values, which form the context for your plan and all our advice.
Financial Planning
This is where money becomes the focus. You are far more likely to achieve your objectives with a properly designed and implemented plan that is regularly reviewed.
We establish to the cost of your current lifestyle, the resources that support it, and project where you are heading. We consider what’s needed for you to achieve financial independence or whether you’re already there.
Together we develop your financial plan aimed at maximising your chances of success, whilst making provision for if things go wrong.
Independent Financial Advice
Investments and financial products are the means to the end, but their importance should not be downplayed. Their choice has a huge impact on the success of your plan.
We’re passionately independent for very good reasons. Success depends on achieving good investment performance within agreed risk parameters, keeping costs down and minimising tax.
It’s important to avoid moving existing arrangements when they offer valuable benefits, excessive costs would be incurred, or they simply remain suitable. When they are required, we research the whole market to find the best deals on the most suitable products, then keep them under review.

We established Trusted Planning to ensure clients come first
Having worked with Graham for eighteen months, Dan decided to establish Trusted Planning in 2009. Having had a similar background of working within accountancy and solicitor practices and sharing his vision, Graham joined him in 2010 .
We know clients value continuity of advice and adviser, and we foster long-term relationships built on in-depth understanding and trust. Although clients often decide to move with their adviser, invariably new employers expect and incentivise them to persuade clients to move arrangements in line with their preferred proposition.
With over fifty years experience as independent financial advisers between us in professional, fee based businesses, we both understand how true lifelong financial planning should be done and have the knowledge, experience and ideal combination of qualifications to best deliver it.
We knew of very few businesses that offered true financial planning along with complete independence and impartiality, delivered in a totally transparent and professional manner.
But continuity and excellence of advice and service weren’t our only motivations. Ethics are key. All businesses aim to be profitable but unfortunately the financial services sector has always been sales and target driven, with most IFAs having come from a banking, investment sales, or direct sales background.
Financial products, investments and planning are bewilderingly complicated which leaves people little choice but to trust an adviser, without really knowing whether that trust is well placed. Advising on people’s finances and financial futures is a huge responsibility, due to the real impact it can have on their lives. We didn’t choose the name Trusted Planning lightly, we chose it because, above all, we undertake to always be worthy of that trust.
We’re from professional not sales driven backgrounds
Dan Brocklehurst
Managing Director
Dan is a Chartered Financial Planner, Certified Financial PlannerCM, Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (Financial Planning) and British Standard ISO:22222 Certified Adviser. He is an associate member of the Society of Trustee & Estate Practitioners.
Before establishing Trusted Planning in 2009 he spent his whole career as an independent financial adviser, mostly working within national accountancy practices. He also spent time working within a solicitor practice.
Dan gains most satisfaction from witnessing clients making positive changes they wouldn’t have thought about or been comfortable they could afford without his help, whether it be spending more on what they enjoy, retiring early, changing career or supporting their family by making gifts in the knowledge they can afford them.
He’s pleased to see the increase in availability and interest in responsible investments as he see’s this as a way he can help make a positive difference in terms of his own savings and investments and helping those who are interested in them.

Our experience in working with other professionals is invaluable
There are tax and legal elements to the advice we provide and we have the relevant knowledge, experience and expertise, but the financial planning we deliver often crosses over to areas where more specialist legal, tax and/or accountancy advice or services are required or would be of benefit.
We’ll identify aspects of your plan where you would benefit from specialist advice then be by your side to help communicate your requirements and impartially review their proposals. We may also help you provide information for reporting requirements such as tax returns and probate to save you time and expense. We rarely charge extra for this.
Dealing with solicitors and accountants can be daunting and time consuming. Having worked within national accountancy and legal practices, we know how they work and are familiar with their terminology, which means we’re confident dealing with them and they have confidence in us.
You might already have a solicitor, accountant and/or tax adviser in which case we are happy to work with them to ensure the best outcomes for you. If not we may recommend other professionals who are like minded, suit your requirements and offer good value, saving you the time and worry of selecting them yourself. We don’t receive any financial incentives for this.
