Retirement planning

Retirement should be an enjoyable phase of life when you have the time to do the things you’ve always wanted to do. It’s a time of massive change and uncertainty. A time which involves moving from regular earnings to reliance on pensions and investments. This can lead to the feeling of reduced control, less security and increased financial worry.

There is a hugely diverse range of retirement, pension and investment options available which can be frighteningly complex. The impact of making the wrong decisions can be catastrophic.

Quality of advice is key. Independence and absolute impartiality are essential. You should not deal with an adviser whose recommendations may be influenced by a particular route for their own or their company’s interests. Of course this should be combined with technical ability and experience.

Decisions should not be rushed. You should plan well in advance and only proceed once comfortable. Regular reviews are essential to keep on track. Circumstances change.
